The Function Experts®
Community Therapists Inc., also known as CTI, was founded in 1989 by occupational therapist, Linda Hirsekorn. We began by providing community based occupational therapy for Insurance Corporation of BC clients who had experienced catastrophic injuries. Over time, our practice has grown and evolved in response to the changing needs of the institutions and clients we serve.
We now provide a range of assessment, treatment and consultation services for clients impacted by physical, cognitive and mental health limitations arising from injury or other medical conditions. Our core team includes occupational therapists, physiotherapists, kinesiologists and rehabilitation assistants. Through our relationships with physicians and other allied health professionals, our therapists extend our capabilities beyond our core services by assembling and engaging multidisciplinary teams to assist our clients.
Our services are delivered in home, community, workplace and clinic settings. Our diverse group of clinicians and practices are united by a common purpose, to better understand and improve the function of our clients in the settings that matter to them. Clients
We assist a broad spectrum of clients ranging from children to seniors. We work with individuals who have been impacted by workplace or motor vehicle accidents, illness, neurodevelopmental conditions and a range of other medical impairments. Our clients have difficulty functioning optimally in home, school, workplace or community settings and many experience disruption to important life roles. Specific health populations we work with include orthopedic injury, concussion, chronic pain, mental illness, brain injury and autism. We accept more than 2000 new clients each year.
Funders
Most of our clients obtain guidance about their healthcare requirements as well as financial support for the services we provide from third parties (our funders). Our services are also funded by most extended health plans and many clients self-refer or are referred to us by their physician. Our funders include:
