Alysha-26

ALYSHA

BSc. KIN

Alysha joined Community Therapists in 2024. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Victoria in 2006. Since graduating she has gained experience working at various clinics where she provided active rehabilitation, one to one therapy programs and return to work services. Alysha has worked with clients with chronic disease, soft tissue injury, orthopaedic injuries, autism and heart disease.

Alysha also has experience in disability management for employers and a range of return to work services for various funders. She has provided services in WorkSafeBC programs including OR1, ASTD, RTWSS, IRS and FCE. She is skilled at conducting job site visits and creating/monitoring graduated return to work plans. She is a current member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK). Alysha provides return to work support services for clients in the Victoria area.

AMY

B.Sc. KIN

Amy completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2023 from Simon Fraser University. Prior to joining Community Therapists, Amy worked as a gymnastic coach where she taught children of varying ages and physical and mental abilities in a safe and fun environment. She also volunteered at Vancouver Coastal Health where assisted recreational therapists with running recreational activities for individuals in wheelchairs with physical/mental disabilities.

Amy is a current member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK). She sees clients in the Fraser Valley.

Amanda

BHK

Amanda obtained her Bachelor of Human Kinetics degree from the University of British Columbia in 2009. After graduating, Amanda worked in multidisciplinary/occupational rehab clinics where she gained experience implementing active rehabilitation programs to support return to work efforts.

Concurrent to this she also provided service for WorkSafeBC OR1 clients during which she completed Job Site Visits and GRTW plans and provided job coaching and monitoring for her clients. Amanda has experience working with individuals with soft tissue and orthopedic injuries as well as secondary mental health concerns. Amanda is a current member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK) and provides Return to Work support services for clients with Surrey based employment.

CAMERON

B. Kin

Cameron completed his Bachelor of Kinesiology in 2022 at the University of British Columbia. Before joining Community Therapists, he volunteered to create adapted fitness programs for children with disabilities and provided rehabilitation assistant services in a geriatric care facility. He also has experience working with neurological populations conducting rehabilitation programs. His clients included individuals with stroke, spinal cord injuries and brain injuries.

Cameron is a current member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK). He sees clients in Vancouver, Richmond, and Burnaby, and is a member of our Long Term Care rehab team for one of our geriatric facility funders.

Charmaine-14

CHARMAINE

B.Sc. Kin

Charmaine graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 1998. She has developed expertise in providing instruction in safe lifting, body mechanics, energy conservation, and work style modification and has implemented a variety of gym and aquatic based programs.

She has strong communication skills and works as a member of a rehabilitation team with a variety of health populations that includes acquired brain injury, geriatrics and soft tissue/orthopedic injury. Charmaine is a current member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists and is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese. She sees clients in Surrey, Burnaby, Vancouver and the North shore.

DIANE

B.A. Kin

Diane graduated from the University of Victoria with a BA in Kinesiology in 1999 and joined Community Therapists in 2002. Her extensive knowledge of adapted fitness facilitates client's early return to work following soft-tissue, orthopedic and brain injuries.

Diane’s approach to client education focuses on principles of correct body mechanics, safe lifting and the use of adaptive equipment. Diane is fluent in French and sees clients in the Vancouver area. She also provides support to our rehabilitation team at one of our extended care facility client sites.

EMILY

B. Kin

Emily joined Community Therapists in 2022. She obtained her Bachelors of Kinesiology from the University of the Fraser Valley in 2017. Since graduating she gained experience in the provision of active rehabilitation for clients with physical, neurological and mental health limitations arising from MVAs and workplace injuries.

Her treatment experience includes RTW Activation, Community Living Skills development, Exercise Therapy and Life Skills programming for a variety of client profiles. Emily also has experience working as a Kinesiologist with an interdisciplinary rehabilitation provider in occupational rehabilitation (OR2). Emily has implemented work simulation activities, completed job site visits and developed and monitored graduated return to work plans in collaboration with her client's healthcare team members for patients presenting with a wide variety injuries and conditions. She is a current member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK). Emily provides return to work support services for clients in Surrey and Abbotsford.

HEATHER

BA Kin

Heather graduated from the University of Lethbridge in 2011 with her Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology. After graduating, Heather worked in a variety of clinical settings where she gained experience in functional capacity evaluations, ergonomic risk factor evaluations, active rehabilitation and return to work services.

Heather is experienced in providing Job Site Visits as well as GRTW Planning and Implementation for clients funded by WorkSafeBC. Her past experience also includes providing community activation for clients with mental health conditions and leading 1:1 and group rehabilitation sessions in an Occupational Rehabilitation setting.

Heather is a current member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK) and provides Return to Work support services for clients within the Okanagan Region.

IRENE

B.Sc. Kin

IIrene completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology in 1997 and joined the practice in 1998. Her past work experience included Fitness Counseling at Vancouver Health & Sciences Center (Employee Wellness Center).

She has implemented numerous physical skills, cognitive rehabilitation and community integration programs and has worked with clients with neurological and orthopedic impairments. Irene provides both active rehabilitation and return to work support services for clients in Vancouver, Burnaby and the North Shore. Irene is a past president of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists and speaks Cantonese fluently.

JEREMY

B. Physical Education & Coaching

Jeremy completed his Bachelor of Physical Education and Coaching in 2023 from Douglas College. He also completed a Sports Science diploma from Douglas College in 2020. Prior to joining Community Therapists, he worked as a facility attendant where he informed visitors of the facility and enforced rules and policies. He has also volunteered as a physiotherapist assistant where readied ultrasound machines, electrodes and prepared heat and ice packs for client use.

Jeremy is a current member of British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK). He sees clients in Burnaby and Vancouver.

JENNA

B.Sc. Kin

Jenna completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2010 from the University of New Brunswick. Before joining Community Therapists, Jenna provided active rehabilitation and work conditioning for injured workers in a Surrey based Occupational Rehabilitation program.

Jenna gained extensive experience working with numerous health populations at CTI including orthopedics, brain injury, chronic pain, mental health and concussion. She has implemented a wide variety of programs including land and pool-based activation, home programs and return to work support services. A natural leader with varied experience, Jenna took on the role of Kinesiology Clinical Practice leader in 2019 and provides training, support and mentorship for the kinesiologist team, serves as CTIs BCAK liaison, and provides feedback to management on service delivery issues. She provides gym, pool, home and RTW programs in Vancouver and Burnaby.

Michelle -27

MICHELLE

B. Kin

Michelle completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2023 from Simon Fraser University. Prior to joining Community Therapists, Michelle worked at a clinic where she designed and led exercise programs. She also provided administrative support where she scheduled appointments, created invoices and collected payments from patients. She volunteered as a physiotherapist assistant as well as a clinic assistant. In these volunteer roles she would demonstrate exercises to patients and assisted in creating exercise programs.

Michelle is a current member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK) and speaks conversational Cantonese and Mandarin. She sees clients in Richmond, Burnaby and Vancouver.

PATRICK

B.Kin

Patrick completed his Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from the University of the Fraser Valley in 2023. Prior to joining Community Therapists, Patrick gained experience working as a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor. As a personal trainer he created individualized exercises programs for clients to support their injury recovery and meet their personal fitness goals.

Patrick is a current member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK). He sees clients in Surrey, Langley and Abbotsford.

Phil-15

PHIL

B.A.

Phil joined Community Therapists in 2020 as a Support Worker. He holds a B.A. from the University of Western Ontario and is a Certified Personal Trainer and member of BCRPA as well as a Certified Fitness Consultant with the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiologists.

Prior to joining Community Therapists, Phil gained over 18 years of experience as a personal trainer and fitness instructor providing adapted fitness programs for clients with chronic illnesses such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease. Phil sees clients on the Sunshine Coast.

REGINIA

BHK

Reginia graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor's degree in Human Kinetics in 2007 and joined Community Therapists shortly thereafter. Reginia works with a variety of health populations including acquired brain injury and soft tissue/orthopedic injury.

Reginia is a member of British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK) and sees clients in Coquitlam, Poco and Port Moody

ROBERT

B.Sc Active Health and Rehabilitation

Robert completed his Bachelor of Science in Active Health and Rehabilitation in 2021 from Simon Fraser University.

Prior to joining CTI, he completed a practicum at an Orthotic and Bracing clinic where he applied his knowledge of anatomy and physiology to adjust and fit orthotics for patients. Robert also has prior administrative experience where he worked in a supervisory capacity leading a team in the logistics industry. Robert is a member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK). He sees clients in Vancouver and Burnaby.

SARAH

B. Kin

Sarah completed her Bachelor of Kinesiology in 2020 from the University of Alberta. Before starting with Community Therapists, she completed a practicum as an athletic therapy clinic assistant.

In this role she gained experience conducting basic muscle testing assessments and performing manual therapy as well as implementing therapeutic exercise programs. Sarah is a current member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK). She sees clients in the Comox Valley area.

SAMANTHA

BA KIN

Samantha obtained her Bachelor of Arts (Kinesiology Major) from York University in 1997. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings including Cardiac Rehabilitation, Aquatic Therapy, Occupational Rehabilitation -1 and disability prevention and return to work services for employers and insurers.

Prior to joining Community Therapists in 2021, Samantha gained over 10 years of experience providing Job Site Visits, GRTW planning and implementation as well as active rehabilitation for clients funded by WorkSafeBC. Samantha is a member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists and provides Return to Work support services for clients within the Comox Valley region.
